What is it?
Argireline® is the trade name of a peptide solution whose INCI includes Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, a biomimetic hexapeptide. It was developed for topical cosmetic use and is studied mainly in relation to dynamic lines in areas such as the eye contour or forehead. Its size and water-loving nature limit skin penetration, so the delivery system and overall formulation matter. It must not be confused with medical or injectable procedures.

Its role in a formula
It is included in formulas designed to visibly soften lines associated with facial expression. Cosmetic studies have reported favourable results, but they assess specific concentrations and delivery systems and do not support assigning the same effect to every product that names it. Any visible change is gradual and depends on the complete formula, consistency, treatment area and the skin's starting point.

Compatibility and tolerance
It is often formulated with humectants such as hyaluronic acid, other peptides and antioxidants. There is no blanket need to avoid vitamin C, niacinamide or retinoids, although a routine containing several actives may be less comfortable overall. For reactive skin, introduce the formula gradually and assess the response before adding another new product.

How do I use it?
Use a small amount on clean skin before moisturiser and spread it without vigorous rubbing. It may be applied once or twice daily when directed by the formula. Around the eyes, stay along the orbital bone and avoid direct eye contact. Consistent use over several weeks matters more than increasing the amount; complete the daytime routine with sun protection.
